The Super Bowl Away from Home

When we had made the decision to move down here, and we were sure we were coming, John said, "I just know that they year we don't live in Indiana, the Colts are going to win the Super Bowl." That was in August and here we are now 5 months later and wouldn't you know it - the Indianapolis Colts are the Super Bowl Champions.

We had a little party in the girls' apartment (because our apartment is too small to have more than two other peolple over) for the Super Bowl. we had tons and tons of food - so much that we still have some of it. We (and I mean "we" because John had to help cook due to the burns) made a gigantic pot of chili, and almost everyone else who came brought something.

We had a great time watching the game - but not many of the other people there were as interested in the game as we were. We ended up sitting close to the TV hoping that we could see and hear the important things. Lucky for us, it was broadcast in English, so we could understand the announcing.

There were many exciting moments: turnovers, fumbles, touchdowns, challanges, etc. Overall, we felt that the commercials were not that exciting this year.

We were so excited when the Colts won, but right after the game was over, we had a sad sinking feeling because there was no one else for us to really celebrate with. Oh, well.

There were a few more people at our party, but we didn't remember to take any pictures until some people had left. Here we are cheering for the home team - far from home.

Comments:
It was exciting watching the Colts win - and me who doesn't really understand the game, but learning. So much rain, almost like when you do your laundry. Everyone leaving was truly soaked, but Colt fans were smiling wide. I have saved the articles for you John, as I said in my e-mail.

Today was a snowy day that started before 8 this a.m. and continued all day, just coming down light like a drizzle if raining. Indy and north received more than us, but we got enough to cover the car and walks, etc. Plows came thru and Angelo will be here later to shovel my walk. Did not go to Rehab - better idea was to stay home, that risk trouble on the road and/or cleaning off the car in the parking lot.

Hope those fingers are feeling better Claire, have you in my prayers and John too. Luv ya both Gramma V
