We Made It

After what seemed like a rocky road Claire and I have officially arrived here in the Dominican Republic. We plan on posting pictures of our apartment when we have time but we wanted to let everyone know that we are alive and doing the best that can be expected.

Our journey this morning started at about 6:30 this morning when we were at the airport and found out that there is an embargo on the DR and we were only allowed to take 4 of the 5 bags we had there and each of them had to weight under 70 pounds. So we did some rearranging quickly in the middle of the airport and ended up having to leave some things behind. Oh well. We then made it to Miami alright but ended sitting on the plane there for about an hour waiting to take off for the DR. We then made it to the Dominican, finally got all our suitcases, and found our driver and made our way to the apartment. The apartment is nice and will make due for the time we are here. It echoes a bit right now and I didn't see a Wal-Mart on the way in so I am not sure yet where we are going to pick up a few things that we need around here. I am sure we will find something. :-)

Stay tuned for pictures of our apartment coming soon

John and Claire,

Yahoo! You're there...a dream realized! Each day you will meet people who will make your new home meaningful. You'll find little shops that you'll frequent and enjoy returning to. Each day will feel better than the last.

We are proud of you for taking this on!

Got the low down from your folks and pleased to hear all your stuff arrived. You have a great journey ahead of you and I'm excited to hear about it day by day, so to speak.

Had appointment with the doctor (Dr. T. Primary Care) and he is pleased with how I'm doing and to keep up the good work and will see me again in November. Wow that is great news for me. Next I see Dr. D. Pulmonary Care) in late Sept. Rehab is going great and doing well and the therapists are pleased with my progress. Sure makes me happy.

Yesterday they started to put up the sidding and gutters. They start early, but fortunately I've been up by 7:30. Right now they are sitting in their trucks waiting for the light rain to stop so they can put more of the gutters up. There's nothing more to say of importance today, don't expect news every day tho. Love to you both and prayers always. Love Gramma
